We have always loved compact compacts in gambling. And not only for the fact that they take many times less space than the usual Middle Tower, but also for the fact that they are extremely interesting from a technical point of view. After Lucky Barry Casino all, it is one thing to assemble a powerful car in a huge Full Tower, which will take up almost the entire place under the table, and completely different-in a small case with a volume of 7-10 liters. Today we have just one of these on tests – MSI Infinite S.

Inside

The highlight of the entire Infinite S line is the case. It is very simple in design, ready to accommodate video cards of almost any size, but at the same time only a little more in volume PlayStation 5 – 10.8 liters versus 10.5. True, everything from steel was collected here: only the front panel is made of plastic, on the right face of which there is a button and a light bulb, as well as all the connectors.

Despite the size, inside it is a very balanced game machine. They took the compact motherboard of the Mini-ITX form factor as the basis. System logic – H410 , A good choice for the solutions "put and forgot". The processor is six -core Core i5-10400F , installed in the LGA 1200 connector. The frequencies vary from 2.9 to 4.3 GHz – for work and entertainment the most. Next to him is the SO-Dimm connector for RAM: a module of 8 GB from it was installed in it Samsung. The second slot for the RAM on the back of the board, empty. There, on the back, the connector m.2 for the drive, in it NVMe SSD is half a -term. Video card production MSIGTX 1660 Super With 6 GB video memory. Compact power supply of 350 watts from FSP placed in the lower part of the block, format – 1u.

The controller controls the controller Intel WGI219V. A separate module is mounted wireless Wi-Fi 802.11AX adapter, its work is provided by the Intel AX200 controller. Sound – Standard HD Audio based on the Codec Realtek Alc S1220A.

It is worth mentioning the possibilities of expansion. Unlike the same laptops or solutions with broken components, Infinite S is the most ordinary computer in which everything is disassembled, removed and replaced. That is, say, it will appear on the sale of RTX 3000 at a normal price – it will be possible to remove the side cover, throw 1660 Super installed here on Avito, for example, RTX 3060 Ti. The main thing is to monitor the dimensions, so as not to get out for the permissible 29 cm (which is actually more than enough).

Similarly with the processor. You want something more powerful and faster-please, at least put Core i7 here. Of course, it will not work to disperse it to 5 GHz: the local cooler is designed for 100 W TDP, and the power supply unit gives out only 350 – but you will definitely get nominal frequencies with the base boost.

Clear, appears here and a memory subsystem. We have already said about the RAM: there are two standard connectors on DDR4 under it. But for storing data, in addition to the already busy M.2, there are two compartments: one for 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch hard drives or SSD. The baskets, by the way, are perforated for additional cooling of drives.

Cooling

The cooling system is interesting: two fans on the video card and a large turntable are responsible for active convection, which drives the air through the central processor radiator. The latter was arranged so that hot air was immediately removed outside the body. The video card was placed close to the ventilation holes of the P-shaped cover. Thus, the cooling system 1660 Super literally pumps air into the housing, and the processor cooler removes heated air masses out.

In general, it turned out quite efficiently and quietly. The picture only spoils that in the 2D loading the video card for some reason does not stop the fans and holds them at a speed of about 1,500 revolutions per minute. Why this happens – we never understand. However, such pieces can always be adjusted manually and through the same MSI AFTERBURNER to force the fee to throw off speeds up to 500-600 per minute.

In work

In the work Infinite S is good. The video card is suitable for modern games: in Full HD you can safely set maximum settings – almost all games showed more than 60 frames per second, and only Total War: Three Kingdoms And Watch Dogs: Legion issued less than 40 frames. In QHD to play with the settings for the smooth course of the picture will also have to Metro: Exodus And Borderlands 3.

As for the working parameters, the processor temperature under load rises to 75 ° C, the video card – to 70 ° C. For a small case, the indicators are more than normal, especially since for this this is not necessary to sacrifice frequencies. CPU at one nucleus loads to 4.3 GHz, GPU – to 1965 MHz. The system is enough for the 350th power supply: the maximum consumption from the outlet with two connected 3.5 ’’ disks was 284 watts. Up to 40 watts falls into simple consumption.

We immediately note that a good MSI Dragon Center program is supplied with the computer, which has frequency monitoring, and application control, and tuning RGB backlight on the front panel of the case. By the way, it works in the Mystic Light system and synchronizes with other MSI devices.

To summarize. MSI Infinite S is a compact and practical working-game computer, which in the future can be easily prompted for its needs. It is especially pleasant that the margin of “assembly in one box” is very small and is less than 5% of the total cost of components according to the minimum price at the time of writing. In general, if you were looking for a balanced, inexpensive, compact and quiet universal machine, you should definitely pay attention to Infinite S. Except that it is better to immediately buy one bar of the RAM and switch to a two -channel scheme, it will turn out a little more performance.
